Disappointing Top Chef season 5 finale

Because the winner of the final challenge is crowned winner of the entire season, the show has devolved into the contestants trying not to screw up rather than be great chefs. One result: Blah dishes by competitors who want to play it safe and land somewhere in the middle rather than risk it all too early by attempting something grand. (And if you haven't watched the finale and don't want spoilers, skip the rest of this paragraph.) Another result: The winner of Season 5 eked out a victory over a clearly superior chef at the last minute. Did Hosea present a better final meal than Stefan? Apparently.
